Automated Overhead Cranes

To enhance efficiency, safety, and ergonomics of bridge cranes, Demag is advancing the development and research of innovative assistance features, such as automated operator following and tandem operation for moving large loads. The goal is to offer these new functions as retrofit options for existing systems, without the need for costly new data cable installations.

Centralized Emergency Stop

In the production facilities of a major German automotive manufacturer, rail-guided, driverless transport systems (RGVs) are used to move vehicles reliably from station to station. A central requirement was the ability to safely shut down all vehicles within a safety time of 200 ms – even while roaming across an area of 100 m × 40 m. With BlitzFunk, LOSYCO was able to implement a reliable, scalable, and Ethernet-transparent wireless system for the entire line.

Autonomous Underground Loader

At Cemex’s underground mine in Rüdersdorf, a loader automated by sensmore clears the muck in autonomous loading cycles from a continuously growing tunnel system. Autonomous operation is functionally safe – a light grid stops the loader the moment a person enters the drift. For this, the safety-critical wireless connection has to be available everywhere along the route. BlitzFunk’s latency-free roaming makes exactly that possible, carrying four video streams alongside the safety and control data (PROFINET/PROFIsafe) – robustly, at over 99 % humidity and under heavy vibration.
